BBC radio 4 is a radio station for everyone the station is filled with programmes full of journalism, comedy, compelling dramas and readings anywhere in the uk. BBC radio 4 has been on air for over 54 years with the first ever air date being 30 September 1967 with radio 4s owner being the BBC it is one of the largest radio stations in the uk most of its funding coming from uk tv licenses.
with the average reach of 21.1% of the uk population BBC radio 4 has estimated to have over 11.55 million adults each week. furthermore as radio 4 has a loyal audience base an estimated average radio 4 listener tunes in for 11 hours each week a total of 127 million each week in addition to this radio 4 attracts 1.8 million unique browsers to its site each week the biggest of any BBC radio station. The station continues to have a balanced audience base with 49%male and 51% female with and average age of 56 years of age with the target audience of radio being 35-54yrs old.
Radio 4 starts its schedule by airing news at 5:30-6:00 in the morning this attracts its audience as its usually aired before work so people have time to listen to their daily news information carrying on to radio 4s morning shows being dramas and long documentaries as the days schedule continues radio 4s afternoon shows are broadcasted with them being documentaries, news and weather
